At a recent event held in Mumbai, India, Canon launched 23 new next generation smart digital cameras and camcorders with innovative technologies. The company came out with 8 digital compact cameras, 10 digital video camcorders, 3 lenses, 1 digital SLR and 1 compact photo printer. The company aims to captivate consumers in India with this launch.
Announcing the launch, Kensaku Konishi, President & CEO, Canon India, said “Canon has made a conscious effort to bring the best in photographic equipment to consumers across categories. We pride ourselves on our expanded portfolio of stylish and next generation digital imaging products that will help to make lifestyle a reality for more people in India. The products launched today mark a continuation of our promise of cutting edge technology for our consumers. These are stylish and technologically advanced lifestyle products”.
It was a very special day for the company, as it sold its 500,000th digital camera. Canon presented this digital camera to Bollywood Actress Neha Dhupia.
According to Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India, “In difficult business environment, one thing which everyone needs is fun and entertainment. We, at Canon, believe that this should not be at the cost of technology and gadgets and hence are launching products which are feature rich, technology packed, high on style quotient and most of all value for money”.
Continuing its trend of creating new features and improving functionalities, Canon introduced its first revolutionary technology – the Smart Auto Mode. This revolutionary technology has the ability to automatically identify 18 different scene types and even distinguish between day-time and low-light scenarios. The IXUS 100 IS digital camera is believed to be enabled with this new technology that works in union with Canon’s intelligent scene detection technology.
Moreover, to optimize camera settings, the Smart Auto Mode takes full advantage of the face detection and motion detection technologies. It further claims to offer high picture quality even in challenging environments. The incorporation of these innovations ensures a direct and automatic setting even before the photographer clicks the button to take an image.
Alok further added, “Over the past couple of years, we have seen cameras with functionalities like smile detection, motion detection, face detection, multiple face detection, blink detection and many more. The unique thing which Canon is introducing this year is a Smart Auto mode which is actually an intuitive technology which integrates the appropriate and required functionalities for your photo while you only focus on enjoying the perfect moment”.
Cannon’s latest Blink Detection function has been incorporated in its newly launched IXUS 110IS and 100IS cameras. This function would prevent clicking pictures of the subjects with eyes closed.
Enhanced shutter lag time response, real time face detection and tracking along with the Active Display and Servo AF to focus on moving object are some of its other main technological advancements. In addition, two new creative shooting modes were introduced – Zoon Blur and Creative Light Effects.
The Power Shot D10 is yet another digital camera, which made its appearance at the event. It is considered to be the first adventure sports digital camera. This camera has the ability to withstand 10 meters of water level, shocks from up to 1.22 meters of drop and freezing environment of up to -10 degrees.
The high definition camcorder range adds to the new sub brand LEGRIA series. This series comes with a Dual Flash Memory with sharp and detailed HD images. The lightweight and compact HDTV camcorder boasts off a high quality and improved functions.
Besides, LEGRIA HV40, the company also presented other models like flash-based LEGRIA HF20, HF 200, LEGRIA HF S10 and the HF S100. The smallest and lightest HD camcorder yet to be introduced by Canon is the HF 20, which offers the ease and convenience of Flash Memory.
