Apparently, in a kind of hushed up manner, Apple has mailed and informed its customers that the price of its high end, thin and light edition of the MacBook Air notebook has been cut down by $500. The note book was launched at Macworld San Francisco in the month of January, at an original pricing of $ 3098. Now after six months, Apple has now cut the price of the product by $ 500, which means that the MacBook Air notebook will now be available at the rate of $ 2,598.
Labeled as “the world’s thinnest notebook” the deluxe model of the MacBook Air weighs less than 3 pounds, and it includes a full-sized keyboard and a 13.3-inch LED display feature. Traditionally, Apple usually announces price reductions only when it brings out refreshed or new hardware. The MacBook Air was previously sold in two configurations with a traditional 80GB hard drive and a 1.6-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and another with a 1.8-GHz CPU. The price cut came from changes on the configuration options. The company first reduced the price of the Air’s 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor upgrade by $100. Later the cost of the Flash memory-based 64GB SSD drive upgrade was reduced from $ 999 to $ 599.
This means that the SSD-equipped MacBook Air is no longer Apple’s most expensive notebook.
