Apple has announced that it will be changing the prices and music offerings in iTunes. According to the announcement, the four music labels – Universal Music, Sony, Warner Music and EMI & other independent labels will offer their music in the DRM-free formats in iTunes Plus.
The songs will be available in high quality 256 kbps AAC. One of the major changes include that the songs will be downloadable on iPhone 3G over 3G networks like Wi-Fi and that too for the same price. Apple will be offering music as per the charges decided by these music labels from April onwards.
Steve Jobs, CEO, Apple said, “In April the songs on iTunes will be available on the prices decided by music labels. From the three decided prices – 69 cents, 99 cents and $1.29, most of the songs will be priced at 69 cents. More than 8 million out of 10 million songs will be available in the DRM free format”.
