Apple iPhone users can now refer to iTunes application store for downloading alternative Web browsers to Safari.
Earlier Apple came out with the policy to deny the applications that duplicate functionality of its own softwares, but now four new web browsers for the phone are available at Apple store. But, it is expected that other popular browsers will not follow the suit.
The new web browsers may offer features like tabs and private browsing, but are believed to be different user interface implementations of iPhone’s Webkit – an in-built rendering engine. So, basically the code for the new applications is still Apple’s.
Some new browsers are expected to be available for free, while others may range up to Rs. 98. These will bring some missing features of Apple Safari App. The Edge browser, a free application will remove the address and navigation bars of Safari, leaving more screen for the page user is browsing.
The Tabbed Browser priced at Rs. 48 will bring tabbed browsing to the phone by queuing up all the clicked links and them displaying them in a particular order. While the Incognito and Shaking web browsers will offer untraceable browsing and compensate all the small hand shaking to make the reading easier, with the help of an algorithm.
The new applications are regarded as Apple’s step to become more open platform for the web browser developers. The applications are still not available in the UK iTunes app store.
