The Indian market recently saw the arrival of two new second generation laptops from Asus, the Eee PC 1000H and the Eee PC 904HD. In association with Intel and Microsoft, Asus has ushered in a new era of notebooks which incorporates both educational and entertainment usage along with ultra potability and fast networking features. Besides basic computer applications, the notebooks are meant to handle other diverse applications such as music, videos and movies along with emails and web browsing. Targeted at a wide segment of users and at all age ranges including housewives, senior citizens, travelers, social networking fans and teenagers, the Asus 904HD and 1000H models are expected to retail at the approximate rate of Rs 26,990 and Rs 29,990 respectively.
The Asus Eee 1000H features a “Shockproof Solid State Drive” design, a 10-inch display, speakers from Dolby Digital, Bluetooth and a 1.3m Pixel web cam. It is powered by an Intel Atom processor and runs on the Windows XP Operating system. In addition, the notebook is further enhanced by a fast wireless Internet connection capability (WiFi 802.11n) along with the Asus’s “Super Hybrid Engine” technology that delivers a longer battery lifespan lasting upto 8 hours
The Eee PC 904HD operates on the Intel mobile platform and has a battery lifespan that lasts upto 4.5 hours. It features an 8.9-inch screen but it offers the same 1024×600 resolution display as the 1000H version, and both the notebooks come with pre-installed Windows XP, Microsoft Works, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and an 80 GB SATA hard disk drive components.
