In October 2011, Research in Motion (RIM) released a statement indicating that new software upgrade for BlackBerry PlayBook will be made available by February 2012. As cited by them, the release was delayed because they needed assurance that the update meets the expectation of its developers and customers alike.
It is now being reported that RIM will be unveiling BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 at the upcoming CES 2012 function. Like we all know, CES 2012 is just around the corner and this comes in as a very exciting news for RIM as well as existing PlayBook users. RIM having achieved their target well before time, must be content with themselves. This definitely comes in as a good news for RIM after having a below average 2011, while customers will be more than happy not having to wait until February to see how the upgrade has panned out.
First, statement for late release and then subsequent earlier launch only indicates that anything and everything that was to be integrated has been added and the product is working quite well. One such feature is Android Emulator, which enables PlayBook to run Android based applications without actually having to run Android itself. The release of BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 becomes even more appealing after the manufacturer recently slashed the prices of all renovated models of PlayBook.
