For those of you waiting to get your hands on Nokia N78, the latest in the addition of a growing line of Nokia Nseries, there is somewhat of a sad news. Due to certain rules and regulations laid down by the Government of India, Nokia has been forced to strip off N78 with its FM transmitter With FM transmitter, users can easily stream music from their handsets into their car stereos via the FM radio receiver.
Governments of a few countries such as France, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy and India consider it illegal to operate radio transmitters without a license. (For reasons, only they alone can fathom).
Ironically, there are already products in the market that work on the same technology and principle, such as the EUP-802 FM Modulator by Intex and Sony Ericsson W980.
However, the speculations are that the hardware for the transmitter would be present and only the software required for it to operate would be removed. But, if that is the situation, then it is a simple concern, that can be fixed by simply changing the product code via NSS. (Nemesis Service Suite).
So, if you are looking for Nokia N78 as your preferred choice, then you better look for the one that has a transmitter included. Otherwise you’ll end up looking for NSS to hack it with.
