Apple has finally introduced its much awaited iPhone 3G S. Featuring improved speed and faster performance, the latest device has a longer battery life, high quality 3 mega pixel auto focus camera, video recording and a hands free voice control.
iPhone 3G S has an advanced iPhone OS 3.0 mobile operating system that is loaded with hundreds of power packed features. You can now download more than 50,000 applications from Apple’s App Store.
Philip Schiller, Senior VP, WorldWide Product Marketing, Apple said, “S stands for speed and iPhone 3G S is the fastest & the most powerful phone yet. Phone lovers will love the incredible new features of the phone like autofocus camera, video recording and voice control. The phone is launched at a breakthrough price of $99. We are thrilled to get iPhone 3G into the hands of more users in the market”.
Here are some highlights of the fully-loaded and the coolest phone in the world:
- The speed of iPhone 3G S is approximately twice that of the previous version.
- It supports OpenGL ES 2.0 standard, which is meant to enhance the quality of 3D graphics.
- Supports 7.2 Mbps HSDPA for faster and smoother networking.
- 3 mega pixel auto focus camera that adjusts focus, color and contrast. The automatic macro focus function will assist in getting extra close up shots.
- The phone operates via voice commands.
- White on black feature reverses the colors on the screen to provide higher contrast.
- Features like cut, copy, past, spotlight search, MMS, landscape keyboard for mail, notes, messages, parental controls for TV shows and movies.
- iTunes for wireless movie downloading, TV and auto programs download on phone.
- The phone has in-built Nike+iPod sensor to track the miles you run or sync with the latest generation gym equipment.
- In case you are unable to find your iPhone, you can still delete all the data from the phone by using Remote Wipe feature.
The iPhone 3G S will be available throughout AT&T in the US from June 19 at an expected price of Rs. 9,440 for the 16GB model and Rs. 14,180 for the 32GB model. The 3G S 8GB model will be approximately priced at Rs. 4,700. Those who are planning to get their hands on the new version will have to sign a two year contract with AT&T. The phone will be available through Apple and AT&T and online stores. Best buy and Wal-Mart will also be selling the Apple iPhone 3G S for the same price.
The previous iPhone customers will get the free update of OS 3.0 whereas, the iPod Touch customers will be required to buy it for a reasonable price of approx Rs. 450. The OS 3.0 will be available for free download from June 17 via iTunes 8.2 or higher. Apple is planning to make the new version available in 80 countries very soon.
