Samsung had first released its ChatOn messaging service in October 2011. At the time of the release, it was seen competing with BlackBerry’s BBM and Apple’s iMessage along side with other independent SMS replacement apps like WhatsApp, ChatNOW, etc.
Samsung developed ChatOn as a cross-platform application, which was initially installed on BADA platform. ChatOn recently became available for Androids and now can be purchased from Apple’s iTunes Store with Window Phone 7 and BlackBerry version soon to be released as well. ChatOn has a really simple UI and easy to use features like group chats, sharing of media updates. Transfer of videos and voice notes, updating user’s location, contacts, calender appointments are other features that are included. Deserving mention is, Interaction Rank that ranks your friend depending on their activities on ChatOn.
The ChatOn for Apple is developed by Samsung Electronics Co.LTD. It is available for free and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, with iOS 4.2 or later.
