Sony Computer Entertainment America announced the launch of their latest 80GB PS3, Limited Edition PS2 Bundle and PSP Entertainment Pack at its annual press conference, the E3 Media & Business Summit.
The new PlayStation 3 (PS3) 80GB model will be available at the market price of Rs.17,140. It possesses similar features and functionalities as the original 40GB model with only the marked difference of storage space. The Sony PS3 offers movies, graphics, music, photos and other entertainment features, and it also features a Blu-ray player, HDMI output, an integrated Wi-Fi connection, Cell Broadband Engine combined with an in built 80GB hard-disk drive. The multi-functionality of the PS3, along with several exclusive third-party titles and the PlayStation Network, is an entertainment extravaganza designed to appeal to a wide range of consumers, from hard-core gamers to novices.
SCEA also announced the release of a new and exclusive PSP Entertainment Pack. The new bundle showcases the PSP’s multi-functional feature and is targeted for the festive season. With plans to set its official launch in October 2008 for an MSRP of $199.99 (approx. Rs 8550), the pack will include a limited-edition “Silver” PSP system with the exclusive game “Ratchet and Clank Size Matter.” The package intended for gift giving purposes will also include a blockbuster movie on UMD (Universal Media Disc), a PlayStation Network voucher to download the innovative “echochrome” puzzle game from PlayStation Store. In addition the PSP Entertainment Pack features a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for storing music, videos and photos.
Last but not the least, SCEA also introduced a new family entertainment bundle for the PlayStation 2 system. Considered as the most successful console in the game industry history, the Videogame PlayStation 2 Pack will feature the highly anticipated TT Games/Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment title and limited edition “LEGO Batman: The Videogame,” “Warner Home Video’s Justice League: The New Frontier” on DVD, and a PlayStation(R)2 system. The new family entertainment bundle will be priced at $149.99. SCEA has plans to launch more than 130 new titles for the PlayStation 2 system, which will add up to a total of 10,000 titles by the end of the year.
In addition, SCEA introduced a new family entertainment bundle for the PlayStation 2 system, the most successful console in industry history. The limited-edition LEGO Batman: The Videogame PlayStation 2 Pack will feature the highly anticipated TT Games/Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment title LEGO Batman: The Videogame, Warner Home Video’s Justice League: The New Frontier on DVD, and a PlayStation(R)2 system — all for $149.99 MSRP, which represents a $30 savings for consumers if the contents were purchased separately.
