According to our sources, Vodafone is all set to release the Apple iPhone 3G on August 18th2008, that gives it an approximate lead of about two weeks ahead of Airtel, that is planning to launch the hottest boys’ toy in town somewhere in late August or early September this year.
As far as the price of the Apple iPhone 3G is concerned, sources believe that Vodafone is planning to bring the device in the Indian Market for just Rs.13,000/-. Now, if this is a fact, then it would be the cheapest and the smartest phone, ever to be launched in India and the sales would be going through the roof. However, a lot of users believe that the Rs.13,000/- price tag is just the basic price of the device and as in the United States, the device would be available only on contract basis with Vodafone (Airtel too). Considering the fact that the device is only available through contracts, then it is a good bet that the rentals for the connections would soar past Rs.700/- month and the iPhone 3G just might cost a lot more than just 13 K.
Still, these are just speculations and the whole package would be revealed in a couple of days, when Vodafone comes out with a frenzy of advertisements and announcements.
