Western Digital has launched WD2go and WD2go Pro mobile apps for its personal cloud storage solution- My Book Live.
The My Book Live helps the user to remain connected to his home network through the creation of shared storage. Then the WD2go application helps the user to access that shared storage through his iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Android devices. And he can do the same from anywhere in the world.
It’s beneficial and convenient like anything. One can keep his media and files on his own physical drive, kept safely at his home. But on every occasion he needs to access the same, he can do it without hassles through the Internet.
My Book Live is equipped with a built-in media server, which is able to stream movies, photos and music to any DLNA-certified multimedia device. That multimedia device can be a connected TV, a WD TV, an Xbox 360, a PlayStation 3 or a Blu-ray player.
The key features of WD2go Pro
Clipping facility-
The user can clip documents, such as folders, files, videos, songs and photos to download a copy of the same to a mobile device from My Book Live. This will ensure subsequent access to those documents without using Internet.
Automatic sync-
Every time the user adds either a new or an old but modified file to the My Book Live, the said file gets automatically in sync with the mobile devices.
Content sharing facility-
It helps the user to share content with other people. He can email or share files in the form of a link, print them, and can also open the same with third party apps.
Additional security facility-
The user has the option to lock mobile access to the My Book Live drive, in case he feels any such need. He will be able to do the same by using a 4 digit pass code.
