Yahoo!, Vodafone Team to Distribute Opera Mini


Opera Software and Yahoo! have announced their collaboration to deliver the Opera Mini Mobile Web Browser to more mobile phone users at a global level. According to Yahoo!, they will soon begin distributing Opera Mini via Yahoo Mobile and also as a standalone download from Yahoo’s mobile Web sites in the upcoming period of time!

Opera and Yahoo will offer access to the full Internet on a wide range of devices. The Opera Mini client will be available free of charge.

“As the most popular mobile browser on the planet, Opera Mini will also be available to users of Yahoo Mobile,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “Yahoo Mobile with Opera Mini is easily accessible to end users, operators and manufacturers and provides a cost-effective means of getting the Internet on your phone. Together, Yahoo and Opera will bring the full Web experience to your phone, similar to how you know it from your desktop computer.”

Further, David Ko, senior vice president, Connected Life, Yahoo, said, “We are excited to announce this partnership with Opera to bring Opera Mini to Yahoo Mobile users, enabling our consumers to surf the Internet on their mobile devices.”

In the other news, Opera Software has also signed a deal with Vodafone to develop a custom-made version of Opera Mini, that will be available only in Vodafone markets in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
