Iomega has come out with its latest multimedia drive, namely the ScreenPlay Pro HD. The 7,200RPM unit formatted hard disk multimedia drive promises a high-definition theater experience to its users enabling them to transfer all multimedia, such as photos, music, standard- and high-definition videos, from a PC to a home theater by creating a convenient link between the two.
The 1 TB drive is compatible with a 10/100 Ethernet connection, allowing a user to remotely access his/her networked files or use another USB drive to transfer all the files.
The instrument comes with a remote and additionally features built-in basic video recording from a set-top box, enabling users to save standard definition video clips for later viewing.
The drive has HDMI, component and composite video for video connections. A composite RCA and coaxial S/PDIF outputs are present for audio connections.
The ScreenPlay Pro HD multimedia drive supports HD signals up to a resolution of 1080i, along with different video files, such as DivX, MPEG-4 and XviD. The device supports a large number of of file formats, such as MP3, AC3 (Dolby Digital Encoding), WAV, WMA, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI/VOB) and JPEG.
The device is compliant with Windows XP and Vista operating systems. A unique feature is that it allows backup of data with the EMC Retrospect software. Or one can do also backup data online with MozyHome Online Backup.
The 1 TB Iomega ScreenPlay Pro HD multimedia drive has been launched in the United States at a price of $300 (approx. Rs. 14,790). Simultaneously, Iomega has also launched a 500 GB storage device.
