‘Ultrabook’ is a new breed of laptops with each one aiming to be more leaner, faster and stylish than the previous available. About 60 ultrabooks are scheduled to be showcased during CES 2012 Las Vegas and one of them is Acer Aspire S5, which is being touted as world’s thinnest ultrabook by their manufacturer.
Aspire S5 is only 15mm thick at its maximal point, comes with 13.3-inch of LCD and weighs only 1.35kg. Aspire S5 arrives with Acer specific features such as Innovative Acer Green Instant On and Acer Always Connect. Acer Green Instant On allows Aspire S5 to resume instantly, within 1.5seconds, ensuring battery life is fully optimised to last for as long as possible. While Acer Always Connect, helps user to connect online faster for better results and edutainment. Outer chassis dons an elegant curve, while ultra-fluid contours, visible from all the angles, makes Aspire S5 very noticeable. Upload and retrieval of data can be done any time and anywhere, including sleep mode. Going deeper into performance, Aspire S5 is said to have incorporated super fast I/O panel, aptly named MagicFlip I/O, it comprises of HDMI, USB 3.0 and 20 Gbps Thunderbolt. Features an Intel Core processor, SSD storage, Dolby Home Theater v4 and Chiclet keyboard.
As stated by said Jim Wong, president of Acer Inc, “The Ultrabook is much more than just a product segment. It’s a new trend that will become the mainstream for mobile PCs, and customers will see the unique features gradually extended across Acer’s notebook family.“
At the moment no information on the pricing has been made public, though updates on Acer Aspire S5 are provided. Acer has stated that shipping will commence in the second quarter of 2012.
