The word is finally out, the Dell Inspiron M101z will soon hit the Indian market. Dell India says “it easily goes wherever you go,” regarding this thin profile Netbook that weighs lesser than 2 Kg. This model has an 11.6 inches display, unlike the 10.1 inch display on most Netbooks. It supports up to a 1366 x 768 pixel (HD) resolution. The 11.6 inches display also gives an advantage of a little less squeezed up keyboard feel which is usual with common Netbooks.
The Dell Inspiron M101z is fitted with AMD’s Athlon II Neo processor. The single core processor runs at K125 1.7 GHz, the K325 model while the ones with dual core processors run at 1.3 GHz on each processor. The cheapest models has Windows 7 Starter installed, while with higher budgets you can get the ones with Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit. Memory starts with 2 GB (1 X 2 GB) 1 DIMM DDR3 with 1333MHz and can go up to 4 GB (2 X 2 GB) 2 DIMM DDR3 with 1333MHz. The hard drive space starts with minimum 250 GB 5400 RPM up to 320 GB with 7200 RPM.
The M101z integrates the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 video card for graphic requirements. It plays HD videos like a breeze but it is not advised for high end gaming. Its 6-cell 56 W/hr battery assures a great battery life but it is yet to be confirmed as 10 inch Netbooks’ batteries usually run for incredible 7 to 10 hrs.
The Dell Inspiron M101z features Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for connectivity. An HDMI port lets you connect to an LCD TV. Also incorporated are three USB 2.0 ports, one USB PowerShare port, VGA, SRS Premium sound speakers and multi card reader. Pricing starts at Rs. 21,800 (all inclusive) and goes up to Rs. 30,800.
