Finally, the Indian cellular carriers have broken their silence and have begun communicating to the consumers about the acquisition process of Apple Iphone 3G. As we had reported earlier that Airtel had officially announced the date for the launch of Apple iPhone 3G, now Vodafone has come out with their official announcement, along with the details of the procedure for getting your hands on the hottest gizmo in town.
Vodafone officials has sent us the details and it has now been confirmed that the iPhone 3G will be be available to the Indian consumers at the same date when Airtel is slated to launch the device, i.e. August 22nd 2008.
Contrary to the speculations, Vodafone is introducing both 8GB and the16 GB versions of the handsets and has priced them at Rs 31,000 and Rs 36,100 respectively. Vodafone has explicitly stated that the registrations for the new iPhone have been overflowing and due to limited stocks, you would have to confirm your booking of the handset by paying an advance of Rs.10,000.
To make the advance payment, all you need to do is to visit your nearest Vodafone store and make the payment between August 20th and 21st 2008. The mode of payment can be either cash or a credit card. According to Vodafone, “Don´t forget to show the iPhone booking SMS, which you would have received from us, when you visit the Vodafone Store to pay the advance.”
After the advance payment, you’ll be assigned an appointment for the day when you’ll become a proud owner of the Apple iPhone 3G.
Now its left to see how many of us will go and buy Rs.8000 phone for Rs.31,000!
