Perhaps the hottest topic in the Gadget Town is the launch of the new Apple iPhone 3G, whose launch is date is coming almost knocking on the door. However, in all this excitement and fanfare, there is also a dim news for people who thought they could use their new iPhone with their old 1st generation iPhone docks
The 1st generation iPhone dock is not compatible with the new iPhone 3G. The dock of the iPhone is an multi-purpose instrument that charges the phone’s battery, synchronizes the phone with the computer and for various other activities as well. However, with the Apple iPhone 3G, Apple Inc. has not only incorporated several super-cool features, but has also redesigned the handset in multiple aspects and one of them primarily being the docking port. Also, due to the new slimmer design the dock had to also undergo a change to accommodate the iPhone 3G’s form factor. This means that the iPhone dock and all other accessories purchased for the previous iPhone, would have to be purchased again.
