For a long time Microsoft has been talking about its soon to be launched product – Windows 8 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/release-preview . The company’s keynote during TechEd annual national conference was simple and elementary as they believed people at the event were not aware of Windows 8. However, Microsoft gave a peek of the latest Office version that is codenamed Office 15 on Windows RT Tablet. The director of Program Management, Linda Averett, provided a quick glimpse of Excel, while presenting Windows on ARM. Window RT is the name given to Windows on ARM and the software is called the ‘Preview of Office 2013 RT’ http://windows8beta.com/2012/06/office-2013-for-windows-rt-demonstrated.
Microsoft Gives a Peek of Office 2013!
Office 15 is expected to have few Metro-style enhancements for Windows 8 tablets, but Microsoft hasn’t commented on that. It is still unclear whether Office 15 will support Windows 8 on ARM devices or not. Device makers showed interest to launch Windows 8 tablets in the second half of 2012, but by judging the timing of Technical Previews for earlier versions of office, Office 15 may take a long time in the making.
This new suite has been designed to reduce power consumption. Compared to the earlier version, Office 15 is expected to have a a flatter look. The Office suite for Windows on ARM (WOA) is to be more app like, instead of having the traditional look. The company supposedly plans to make a public beta of Office 15 available
Windows 8 is expected to hit the market in the next couple of months whereas Office 2013 by early next year.
