Nokia has unveiled a new range of four new 7-series mobile phone models that will be sold under the label “Supernova.” Sauve and sophisticated, the product is aimed for users who aren’t just style conscious but interested in functionality as well. The Supernova range of handsets will be a nostalgic trip to the good old days where you could change handset covers as you want, and make it vibrant. The four new handsets launched in this range include:
The Nokia 7210 Supernova, a simple slim handheld available in a choice of “bubble gum pink” and “vivid blue” gloss finishes. The 7210 Supernova will be available in the third quarter of 2008 and will retail for around $190 ( Rs. 8,000).
Equipped with an SD memory card slot, the Nokia 7210 Supernova also features a 2 megapixel camera and access to Flickr, to provide one click access to share photos. It can also easily download, play and save music and videos sideloaded from a PC or purchased from Nokia Music Store, as well as manage music with the new Nokia Music PC client.
Next in the range is the Nokia 7310 Supernova, which is also a slim handheld with Xpress-On covers etched with 3D textured designs. Available in Steel Blue plus a second cover in Wasabi Green, a further five front and back cover options of “Mushroom Silver, Plum Jam, Electric Blue, Yellow Mellow and Espresso Brown” will also be available in select markets.
The features of the 7310 include an FM radio and MP3 music player, a 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and TV out for image sharing, instant messaging and playing preinstalled games on TV. The Nokia 7310 will be priced at the rate of Rs.10,300 (155 EUR).
The following handset in the range is the Nokia 7510 Supernova, which will be available at the retail price of Rs.12,000 (180 EUR). The handset is a flip-phone with a push-to-open clamshell, and it has a soft feel and a solid metal hinge. Available in Xpress-On front and back covers in Storm Blue, Red, Emerald Green and Espresso Brown colors. The Nokia 7510 Supernova comes along with a music player and FM Radio too, and it also features light effects with a hidden-until-lit display and a reminder light. The handset has a 2.0-megapixel camera with NIPS, LED flash, 4x digital zoom, a 512MB microSD card, a large 2.2-inch QVGA display and Nokia web browser, with easy access to Nokia Music Store, Nokia Music PC Client and Nokia Maps 1.2 to navigate with free mapping, routing and local search. Additional features include a link to YouTube, support of A-GPS and access to the Nokia WidSets service, which enables users to share content on favorite websites through the device.
Last but not the least is the the 7610 Slider handset which will be retailed around the price of Rs 17000. It offers Xpress-On covers in a choice of a set of ‘steel blue’ and ‘red’ covers offset by a muted gray front surface, or ‘bright lilac’ and ‘steel blue’ contrasted against a pristine white front surface. The slide-designed handset with smooth curves, has the exclusive ‘Theme Colorizer’ feature that lets users identify and capture any color and customized look by applying captured colors to the phone’s key illumination and wallpaper. The Nokia 7610 Supernova also features a 240 x 320 pixels large display, a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with dual LED flash and 8x digital zoom, instant messaging and TV out for image sharing, a stereo FM radio and stereo Bluetooth support. The 98 x 48 x 15 mm large phone, weighing 99 grams, and have the capability of recording 640 x 480 pixel large videos at 30 frames/sec. With the Nokia 7610 Supernova, users can have a melodious time with a dedicated music key and access to the Nokia Music Store through the Nokia Music PC Client.
