Finally, after a lot of wait and anxiety, Bharti Airtel is all set to launch to launch the ‘gadget of the Year’, Apple iPhone 3G for the Indian consumers. The date of the launch has been set for August 22nd 2008.
The new iPhone 3G will be available at all Airtel Relationship Centers across India. According to Sanjay Kapoor (President, Bharti Airtel mobile services), “iPhone has been the iconic technology revelation of this year. Airtel has been at the forefront of innovation and customer delight in the Indian telecom sector. Introducing iPhone 3G to India further underscores our commitment to enrich the communication experience of all Airtel users.”
However, the mystery still remains as far as the cost of the Apple iPhone 3G is concerned, as even while announcing the date of the launch, Airtel still did not disclose the price of the 3G device. However unconfirmed resources put it to in the range of 18,000 (plus around Rs.500 to Rs.2000 monthly charges)
Since the international debut of the Apple iPhone 3G on July 11th 2008, all the big players in the mobile phone arena, such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola have been given a run for their money. It is quite obvious that when Apple iPhone 3G hits the Indian markets, which is one of the biggest markets for such gadgets, the other mobile phone companies will be struggling to come up with an all-in-one device. A device with looks, features and most importantly, an affordable price tag.
Apart from all the ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’, at TechDrunk, we are quite excited with this new piece of information and will be posting regular updates for our readers. So, stay tuned!
